When it comes to eating healthy, a big roadblock that may be in the way of you and most of my clients is TIME! We are so busy these days that sometimes it’s hard to pencil in some time to prepare food. Today I’m going to share with you 5 tricks for eating healthy even with a busy lifestyle!

1. Prepare ahead of time!

Prep is so KEY, especially when you’re busy! I like to pick a day (Sunday for example) to go grocery shopping and prep my food to store in containers in the fridge for meals throughout the week. Some of the things I do to prep are:

  • Chop raw veggies and cut up fruit
  • Roast up some veggies: toss the veggies in some coconut oil, sea salt, and pepper and roast them in the oven on a baking sheet at 350° F for about 30-35 minutes
  • Cook up some brown rice, quinoa, and mix together with your protein of choice

2. Bring snacks

I like to make my own trail mix from shopping in the bulk bins at grocery stores.

I bring it with me in a baggie so I always have a quick go-to snack of healthy fats and protein from nuts, plus a sweet bite from raisins or goji berries! A good bring along recipe would be my Raw Carrot Cake Power Balls!

3. Stay hydrated

It is so important not to forget about WATER while you’re busy! You never see me without my water bottle in my hand or in my car cup holder! I love to put fresh citrus wedges into my water to infuse it with some natural taste.

4. Make your own protein or energy bars

Grabbing a bar on the go may sound convenient, but be careful what you reach for! Some brands are healthy options while others can be loaded with too much sugar or artificial ingredients. I recommend making some of my Powerful Coconut Flour Cookies! These are great on the go!

5. The recipe that keeps on giving

Along with your prep of veggies, fruits, trail mix, and bars – I always make a big batch of a recipe that will be ready for dinner for a few nights.

One of my favorites is to make my Pumpkin Alfredo Sauce to put over noodles of choice, rice, or over roasted veggies. This recipe lasts a few nights so I don’t have to cook every night around dinnertime.

I love to cook and bake, so prepping food is fun for me. Even if it’s not your favorite thing, being able to get it all done in one day or every couple of days can surely help you gain success even on a busy schedule!
