We recently reached out to some of our friends and colleagues in the fitness world to get the scoop on what they consider the latest and greatest must-haves for their fitness bag. It’s always fun to take a look at what’s in someone else’s bag, isn’t it? You never know what you might find that could give you that boost of inspiration you are looking for!
We’ll be sharing what we’ve found through a series of posts, because there’s just no way we could squish all of these great recommendations into just one post!
Adam Campbell, fitness director at Men’s Health Magazine and author of New York Times best-selling book The Men’s Health Big Book of Exercises and The Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises, share a peak inside his gym bag:
American Crew Light Hold Texture Lotion: It doesn’t leave my hair crunchy like some gels. It just gives it some, well, texture.
Gillette Fusion Power Razor: I thought this was nonsense until I tried it. Much easier to get good shave without the cuts. It’s the best razor I’ve ever had.
Kiehl’s Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream — Green Eagle: Thicker than a regular shaving cream and works better for me than a gel. You don’t lose contact with your skin, so you get a superior shave. [editor’s note: Live Well 360 co-founder, Ryan, is a big fan as well!]
Kenneth Cole Black: My wife likes it.
Tweezers: Because you never know when an eyebrow hair is going to go awry.
Valslide: Great for activating lesser-used muscles in hips, legs, glutes, arms, and abs for sculpting and cardio workout.
Nike Frees: I like them for the obvious reason of less heel. But I also like how they look. I actually have 3 pair. Well, 4 if you count the old pair that I keep in the garage to do yard work in. Those were actually my first pair–they were 3.0s–and are still my favorite (seemed to have less cushioning than the newer models).
My two newest pairs are 7.0s, but the pair I wear the most is the Nike SPARQ 09. Again, these seem to have more of that “barefoot” feeling than the newer 7.0s that I have. Nike doesn’t seem to sell them anymore but you can find them with a search.
NorthFace Zephyrus Pullover: This is awesome for wearing to and from the gym when it’s cold, or on a walk or hike, or even a run. You can pack it into the chest pocket so it’s very small to carry along in your bag just about anywhere.
Carla Birnberg, author, personal trainer, and blogger/inspirer at MizFitOnline.com, dishes what she always carries in her bag.
I always have a resistance band (for me to squeeze in a quick workout on the run at the park OR for some fun-with-child outdoors all in the name of play) and a jump rope (Same reasoning, more likely for fun. We tend to tie one end to a pole and take turns jumping).
I’M FREAKIN SMITTEN WITH MY UGIBALL, although I have no bag for that so it’s trunk-bound.
